TV was better when there were only 3 channels

There was a time when television felt like a shared experience. Three channels, maybe four if you twisted the antenna just right, and everyone in the neighborhood watched the same shows. You could talk about last night’s episode with co-workers or friends, because you all saw it. Today, with hundreds of channels and endless streaming apps, it’s all noise. Nobody watches the same thing, nobody talks about the same thing, and quality has been replaced with quantity.

Back then, shows had to earn their slot. Networks invested in writing, characters, and storytelling that lasted decades. Now? It’s disposable filler, cancelled after one season, forgotten before the credits roll. Too many options have watered down creativity, leaving us with half-hearted reboots and reality trash.

We traded connection for fragmentation, and focus for clutter. Maybe we don’t need more choices — maybe we need fewer, better ones.
